Nepal: Democracy Finding its Way

Nepal finding its way to democracy under the shadow of power politics between China and India. Some of the headlines in the current world media suggest that ”India is shining” and ”China is rising.” Whether the rising and shining neighbors of the recently established Republic of Nepal are helping or hindering the country’s transformation towards democracy?

Join us as we listen to Dr. Katak Malla speak about Nepal. Dr. Malla was born in Nepal and currentl associated with the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University. He is also involved with the IDEA project in democracy building.

    My comment regarding concern of China and India in terms of republic Nepal is less associated with politics rather than economy but unfortunately both of them have to use political instruments.

    The only the thing is that India has more influence to Nepal than China just due to open border and cultural ties. China is just a step behind to India however, it wants to influence Nepal by assurance from India whether India might go to the possible geopolitical subjugation.
