Let’s fight HIV/AIDS together

Swedish-Zambian activist Ophelia Haanyama Orum visits UF Stockholm to talk about gender equality in Sub-Saharan Africa and challenges facing HIV positive women.
Ophelia Haanyama Orum is a Swedish/Zambian and woman activist who is HIV positive. Her response to the disease was to initiate the project Walk for life which aims to raise awareness among decision makers, NGO:s and the civil community in general on the HIV/AIDS issues. Ophelia visits UF Stockholm for an interesting seminar and an interesting story about gender equality and HIV. She will also talk about current challenges that Sub-Saharan women are facing in their everyday life. You will be able to get a unique first hand insight into the ongoing HIV/AIDS struggle that is taking place for many women in Africa and also some explanations on why HIV/AIDS is so hard to fight. Ophelia’s story is far from unique, although, the story relates to one of the most serious and urgent problems on the African continent.
