Speekers Pub – PeaceWorks

Every year PeaceWorks sends out volunteers to partners around the world through a SIDA-financed internship project. Wednesday the 29th, PeaceWork interns stationed in Malawi, Palestine and Moldavia visits UF Stockholm to talk about their experiences and different policy topics. This speakers pub will be held in Swedish.

Military power, interventions, and its limits

Located in the middle of Africa, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo both serve as stages for ongoing tragedies. The two countries that emerged out of colonial rule in 1960 are haunted by conflict and constant rebellion, being rich in resources and riddled with opportunistic militias. Despite UN resolutions and peace-keeping missions, the DRC has been the arena for one of the world’s deadliest conflicts for the last fifty years.

Study visits • April 17, 2013

Study visit at UD-MENA (In Swedish)

The Stockholm Association of International Affairs will visit the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The unit for the MENA region will emphasize current situation in the Gulf countries and also inform about EU actions during the Arabian spring.
There will be further information about how the Swedish delegation work in the region.
The visit will take place on the 27th of May and will be in Swedish.

The challenges and prospects of aid policy.
The Swedish aid policy has been heavily discussed in recent years with questions about transparency, the number of receiver countries, the size of aid, and the actual efficiency of aid itself. In regards to Sub-Saharan Africa, some say that aid has done more harm than it has helped. Thus it is often asked: is aid an effective way to eradicate poverty?
