Student Debate Competition
Friday, April 15, 4 pm – 7 pm, Café Bojan, Stockholm University
Utrikespolitiska Föreningen (UF) and the Stockholm Institute for Public Speaking (StIPS) will organize the first UF Student Debate Competition. All participants have received debate training from Ruben Brunsveld, former diplomat to the EU, who is also the founder of StIPS.
Four teams will be competing, without knowing which side of the debate they will be on until the time of the debate. Each debate session will be opened by the first pro-speaker with a strict time limit of three minutes. Then the first opposition speaker will have three minutes, followed by the second pro-speaker to rebut the arguments of the opposing team. Then the opposition gets three minutes to rebut, after which both teams must present their final conclusions to convince the jury and the audience. The debate will be in English.
Those who are not participating in the debate are needed as audience, to cheer on your favorite team. After the debate we will mingle with Ruben Brunsveld.
