Parliamentary Elections in Russia: A Democratic movement under pressure
Monday, November 21 at 15.30, room D9, Stockholm University
Since Vladimir Putin was elected President approximately 10 years ago, Russian leadership has developed in a more authoritarian direction. On the 4th of December the next Presidential Election is taking place in a poor political climate, and the oppositional movement is facing severe difficulties in making their voices heard.
Stockholm Association of International Affairs (UF), in collaboration with Östgruppen, invites you to a seminar with the human rights defender Dmitrij Makarov, who will talk about the Russian democracy movement, and the independent movements’ restricted possibilities of practising freedom of speech.
This seminar will be held in English.
Free entrance for members of UF and Östgruppen. Non members pay 20 sek.
