Working with women in warWednesday, December 7, at 19.00, Café Bojan, Stockholm University
When discussing sexual violence in war focus is primarily on survivors and offenders. But there are other actors involved. In the short film Women’s War we make acquaintance with Esther and Mira, two women who fight for the same cause – to help raped women rebuild their life. Esther lives and works in the acute situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mira in Bosnia-Herzergovina with the scars that still remain from the war in Bosnia in the1990s. In this movie, the two women meet to share experiences and discuss how they can support each other’s organizations.
Maria Zerihoun works for the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation. The foundation collaborate with and supports women’s organizations in conflict areas, who play an active role in the peace and rebuilding processes. Maria will talk about the foundation’s work and the problems they and local women’s organizations in conflict area faces in their struggle to help and support survivors of sexual violence.
The seminar starts at 19.00 but the pub is open from 18.00. Free entrance for members, membership can be solved when you arrive.
